Career Change: From Engineering to Story Artist

Andy Cung will share his journey on how he made the switch from being an Electrical Engineer of 7 years to being a Story Artist in the industry for animation and live action. Andy will have discuss his educational path and how he developed his foundations to make the jump while navigating his day job and family. Andy Cung is currently a Writer/ Director based in LA. He has worked at studios such as: Netflix, Titmouse, Glen Keane Productions, Cartoon Network, Disney, and Collective Pictures. He has experience in a range of projects from board driven to script driven as well as live action & animation. Past credits: Powerpuff Girls, CODE 8, Trash Truck, Arlo: The Alligator Boy, Arlo Series, CODE 8: PART II, AZNBBGRL, SISTERS

Storyboarding with Intent

Andy Cung will talk about the importance of storyboarding with intent and how a lot of time is spent thumbnailing, planning, researching, writing to understand the character point of view and story before even drawing a single storyboard. It is important to have a clear understanding of your intentions before storyboarding to help give you a sense of direction. Andy will break down his own storyboards and scripts to help demonstrate how he does it. Andy Cung is currently a Writer/ Director based in LA.
